OSLO, NorwayValemon’s topsides were lifted into place on the platform’s steel jacket in the North Sea.

The structure left Samsung Heavy Industries’ yard on June 15, and after 40 days, it arrived at the field. The 9,750-tonne (10,747-ton) topsides took two hours to lift, and once lifted into place, the flare boom was installed.

Commissioning work will ensue with wells being hooked-up, followed by the installation of sea water pumps, and the connection of electricity, water and pipelines.

Statoil ASA expects well operations to resume in mid-October, and according to plan three wells will be producing when the field comes onstream at the end of the year. Drilling on the field is planned to continue until 2017.

Valemon will receive its power from onshore and the cable is in place on the seabed in preparation for hook-up.

The field will use existing installations and pipelines for gas and condensate export, with the gas transported through the existing pipeline from Huldra to Heimdal. Condensate goes to Kvitebjorn for stabilization, and thence to Mongstad refinery near Bergen.
