TGS details frontier seismic aims offshore Australasia

TGS will acquire its largest 3D seismic survey to date in the Asia/Pacific region offshore South Australia.

ASKER, Norway – TGS will acquire its largest 3D seismic survey to date in the Asia/Pacific region offshore South Australia.

Nerites Season 2 will cover 13,000 sq km (5,019 sq mi) in the Great Australian Bight over blocks EPP44 and EPP45, located mainly in thedeepwater Ceduna sub-basin.

Dolphin Geophysical’sPolar Duchess and another of the company’s vessels will start acquiring the data in either 4Q 2014 or 1Q 2015. TGS will process the data using its proprietary broadband technology Clari-Fi, and aims to deliver final data to clients in 2Q 2016.

Offshore northwest New Zealand, TGS has begun the regulatory approval process to perform a 17,000-km (10,563-mi) 2D survey over the Reinga, Northland, and Taranaki basins.

It aims to conduct the program between 4Q 2014 and 2Q 2015, with the M/VAquila Explorer acquiring the data and TGS handling processing.

West of Shetland, the company will complete its 2014 European acquisition season with a new 900-sq km (347-sq mi) 3D survey, to be acquired by the M/VNaila towing 12 streamers at 6,000 m (19,685 ft) cable length.

TGS will process the data using Clari-Fi and will issue the results to clients next spring.
