McDermott awarded offshore Megalodon platform installation in Gulf of Mexico

A McDermott International Inc. subsidiary will provide transportation and installation services to Walter Oil & Gas Corp. for the Megalodon platform destined for South Timbalier block 311 in the Gulf of Mexico.

HOUSTON –A McDermott International Inc. (NYSE: MDR) subsidiary will provide transportation and installation services to Walter Oil & Gas Corp. for the Megalodon platform destined for South Timbalier block 311 in the Gulf of Mexico.

The McDermott heavy-lift vessel,Derrick Barge 50, will install the Megalodon platform in 391 ft (119 m) of water, over an existing well site in the Gulf of Mexico.

McDermott will provide all materials and equipment to transport and install the six-pile platform in 391 ft (119 m) of water. TheDerrick Barge 50 will perform a side-lift of the 3,300-ton (3,000-metric-ton) jacket and set the 2,100-ton (1,900-metric-ton) topsides.

Installation is expected to begin 4Q 2014.
