Russian JV drills Caspian Ribachya prospect

MOSCOW – Rosneft and Lukoil have started appraisal drilling at the Ribachya structure in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, using the jackup Astra.

Their joint ventureCaspian Oil Co. is operator. Planned drilling depth is 1,650 m (5,413 ft). They hope to prove oil and gas and to evaluate commerciality.

Rosneft adds that it has defined more than 10 good prospects within the concession, with combined resources estimated at 1.9 Bbbl of oil and 55 bcm (2 tcf) of gas.
