MELBOURNE, AustraliaCairn Energy and its partners have modified their current offshore Senegal drilling program.

With 13⅜-in. casing set in the FAN-1 well ahead of drilling into the two main objectives, the rig must now undergo 12 days of essential maintenance, according to FAR.

The well is targeting the North Fan prospect in 1,427 m (4,682 ft) of water in the Sangomar Deep block, 100 km (62 mi) offshoreSenegal.

As a result, the well completion date has been delayed and the estimated cost will exceed the original estimates.

Funding for FAR’s 15% interest in the two planned Senegal wells will be via future carries and from cash previously received from Cairn Energy and ConocoPhillips.
