    Fairmount Summit tows West Ariel rig to Singapore

    The tug Fairmount Summit has towed the jackup rig West Ariel safely from Vung Tau, Vietnam, to Singapore. The towage over a distance of 1,305 mi (2,100 km) was performed in seven days.

    ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – The tug Fairmount Summit has towed the jackup rig West Ariel safely from Vung Tau, Vietnam, to Singapore. The towage over a distance of 1,305 mi (2,100 km) was performed in seven days.

    TheWest Ariel, a KFels B class independent leg cantilever jackup rig, was built in 2008 by Keppel FELS, Singapore, and is owned by UK-based Seadrill Ltd. The 73-m-long (240-ft-long), 10,352-GT rig can drill up to 9,144 m (30,000 ft) in depth.

    For this job, theFairmount Summit was mobilized from Singapore. When the convoy arrived in Singapore, the rig was handed over to local harbor tugs.
