OSLO, Norway – Det norske oljeselskap has approval from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for an exploration well in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

The jackupMærsk Giant will drill well 2/9-5 S (Heimdalshø) in production license 494, in 65 m (213 ft) of water. The location is roughly 34 km (21 mi) west of the Valhall complex.

Drilling should start next month and last around 60 days, depending on whether a discovery follows.
