LONDON – Aminex and its partners plan to switch their focus to deepwater on their Nyuni area acreage offshore Tanzania.
The company has applied to state-owned TPDC to change the work program for Nyuni’s shallow water seismic obligation, originally scheduled for this year, to deepwater3D seismic in the outboard sector of the PSA area, off the continental shelf.
This includes a large potential prospect that appears to be analogous to some of the recent major deepwater discoveries in the area. However, the partners would not proceed with the program until securing an appropriate vessel.
Aminex adds it would not expect to drill any resultant prospect without bringing in a larger company as a farm-in partner.
