Weatherford, CurTran sign long-term contract for LiteWire nanotechnology

Weatherford International Ltd. has agreed with CurTran LLC to use, sell, and distribute LiteWire, the first commercial carbon nanotube technology in wire and cable form.

HOUSTONWeatherford International Ltd. has agreed with CurTran LLC to use, sell, and distribute LiteWire, the first commercial carbon nanotube technology in wire and cable form.

In addition to using LiteWire in its global operations, Weatherford will be the exclusive distributor of this product in the oil and gas industry.

“Weatherford is an ideal first customer for LiteWire because the oil and gas industry is the most demanding arena for any cable product,” said Gary Rome, CEO and president of CurTran. “It is a long-term contract with a forecasted average value of more than $350 million per year.”
