Technip wins Kaombo umbilical contract

Angoflex Ltda (owned jointly with Sonangol) and Technip subsidiary DUCO Ltd., has won a lump-sum contract from Total E&P Angola.

PARISAngoflex Ltda (owned jointly with Sonangol) and Technip (Paris:TEC) subsidiary DUCO Ltd., has won a lump-sum contract from Total E&P Angola. The contract covers the umbilical system of the Kaombo project in block 32 offshore Angola in water depths up to 2,000 m (6,562 ft).

The scope of work covers the engineering, procurement, and fabrication of 120 km (75 mi) of umbilicals. The contract will be managed from DUCO Ltd. in the UK and is scheduled for completion in 2017. Work starts immediately, with first umbilical deliveries in Angola scheduled for 2016., the majority of which will be manufactured at the Angoflex facility in Lobito, Angola.

This award follows the announcement of the contract won by the consortium of Technip andHeerema Marine Contractors for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation (EPCI), and pre-commissioning for the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) part of the Kaombo project.
