HOUSTON – IHS has donated $10.9 million in the form of IHS Kingdom geoscience software licenses, training, and supporting services to Texas A&M University’s Dwight Look College of Engineering. The donation will enable the university’s undergraduate and graduate students, as well as its geoscience and engineering faculty, to access this software for oil and gas geoscience interpretation and industry research.
IHS Kingdom enables geologists and geophysicists to conduct dynamic depth conversion of time-based data — transforming a common geosciences workflow and increasing the efficiency and accuracy of a process that used to take hours to complete, but is now accomplished in seconds.
In its recent 8.8 release, IHS Kingdom software delivered a new velocity modeling feature that increases workflow efficiency, as it is built into the interpretation environment and automatically integrates with commonly used data. This allows interpreters to leverage this data to build and maintain a virtual velocity model to convert data from time to depth in a fraction of the time when compared to current practices.
