NORTH SYDNEY, Australia – The PTSC-CGGV vessel Binh Minh 02 has started a 2D seismic survey over the Origin Energy-operated block 121 offshore Vietnam.

According to partner Pan Pacific Petroleum (PPP), the plan is to acquire 1,100- 1,300 km (683-808 mi) of 2D data over previously little-explored parts of the block, with a view to better delineating prospectivity of this frontier area.

Elsewhere off Vietnam, another group including PPP continues to assess the commercial viability of theCRD oil and gas discovery, using static modeling and simulation modeling to optimize field development planning and recovery.

They are additionally reviewing development concepts/facilities, including costs/economic analysis.

Activities are expected to be completed by 4Q 2014, at which point the partners aim to make a decisions regarding commerciality and on whether to progress into the front-end engineering detailed design phase. A positive outcome could lead to first oil around the end of 2017.
