Cairn commits to 3D seismic surveys offshore India

Cairn India has restarted exploration in block KG-OSN-2009/3 in the Krishna Godavari basin offshore eastern India.

GURGAON, India – Cairn India has restarted exploration in block KG-OSN-2009/3 in the Krishna Godavari basin offshore eastern India.

It plans to acquire around 1,050 sq km (405 sq mi) of3D seismic next year with a view to build an exploration portfolio across multiple play types. The company will also work on well construction design and long lead procurement for drilling of exploration wells.

Off India’s west coast, the company has tendered for acquisition of up to 2,000 line km (1,243 mi) of 2D seismic overMumbai Offshore block MB-DWN-2009/1.

Additionally, it has started planning for acquisition of an additional 500 sq km (193 sq mi) of 3D data.
