Ceona, Odebrecht team for offshore Brazil deepwater pipelay campaign

LONDON – Ceona Chartering (UK) and Odebrecht Oil & Gas (OOG) will provide subsea services to Petrobras offshore Brazil.

The program, due to start in May, will employ Ceona’s new construction shipPolar Onyx as a pipelay support vessel (PLSV), with Ceona operating in partnership with OOG.

The vessel will join Petrobras’ growing fleet of PLSVs in deep and ultra-deepwaters, installing and recovering flexible risers, flowlines, and umbilicals in depths of up to 2,200 m (7,218 ft). It will work for the company for a firm period of 12 months.

Polar Onyx, a newbuild on charter from GC Rieber Shipping, will feature DP-3, a 250-ton anchor handling offshore crane, and a 275-ton vertical lay system, located over the moonpool.

It will be capable of installing flexible pipes and umbilicals in 3,000 m (9,842 ft) of water with high capacity for flexible pipe loads.

OOG will handle the Brazilian service contract whileCeona manages the vessel and delivery of subsea services.
