LONDONSalamander Energy says divers have completed inspection of damaged subsea facilities on the Bualuang field in the Gulf of Thailand.

During bad weather, the FPSORubicon Vantage drifted into the exclusion zone designed to protect the production infrastructure. Its mooring chains came into contact with and damaged the production riser, resulting in a small oil discharge that was subsequently contained. Production was temporarily shut-in on Jan. 8.

Following the inspection, replacement riser sections and piping spool materials have been moved to location. However, due to more weather delays production will not now restart until early February.

The jackupAtwood Mako’s development drilling program has not been affected, and the rig has drilled and completed two new production wells since the field was shut in. Both will enter production after the re-start.
