Syria, Soyuzneftegaz agree on Mediterranean exploration

DAMASCUS, Syria– Syria and Soyuzneftegaz have agreed to jointly explore in the Mediterranean Sea according to a report by the Associated Press.

While details are not confirmed, the agreement is supposed to span 25 years with the costs to be carried by the Russian company.

The area involved in the multi-phase exploration work is said to encompass 2,190 sq km (845 sq mi).
