TEL AVIV, Israel – Delek Group has issued an update on the deepwater Aphrodite gas field in block 12 offshore Cyprus, following the recent A-2 appraisal well.

Operator Noble Energy plans to review various options for developing the reservoir, including a potential integrated development with adjacent offshore fields in Israel’s exclusive economic zone, including Leviathan.

Aphrodite’s size and Cyprus’ limited domestic gas demand could warrant building infrastructure for exports to international markets, involving liquefaction or compression of the gas. The partners and the Cypriot government are considering a liquefaction facility in the Vassilikos area of the island, and are examining commercial, regulatory, and legal aspects of the project.
