LONDON– Abu Dhabi Oil Co. (ADOC) has appointed Mott MacDonald project management consultant for the Hail oil field development offshore Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The field is around10 km (6.2 mi) south of Mubarraz Island. This is an expansion program designed to increase and extend production for 30 years. Maximized oil production from Hail’s undeveloped reservoirs should equate to the current production rate from ADOC’s adjoining oil fields.

Mott MacDonald will manage and administer Phase 1, which takes in front-end engineering design, approvals, tendering the engineering, procurement, and construction contract execution.

Production manifolds will be installed on a new artificial island including wellheads, production/test manifolds, and utilities.

Nasser Sharkawi, Mott MacDonald’s project manager, said: “The project is being developed in the Marawah marine biosphere reserve zone and protection of the environment is a high priority. There is deep gas field in rock formations below the Hail oil pools, which makes it technically challenging to produce.”
