CALGARY, Canada – Husky Energy says the CNOOC-operated Liwan gas development offshore China is nearly complete, with first production expected in the coming months.

Commissioning of the onshore gas plant and the shallow water central platform is under way, while construction continues on the deepwater facilities to connect the nine wells and the pipeline to the platform.

Work is also progressing on theLiuhua 34-2 field, which should tie into the main Liwan 3-1 deepwater facilities during the second half of 2014.

Natural gas from the fields will be processed at the onshore plant and sold to the mainland China market. Fixed-price sales agreements are in place for all planned production from both fields; negotiations for the Liuhua 29-1 field’s gas continue.

Husky also has started a 2D seismic survey on a deepwater exploration block offshore southwest Taiwan.
