CALGARY, Canada – Suncor Energy will extend its planned maintenance program this September on the Terra NovaFPSO, which is stationed offshore Newfoundland and Labrador.

An underwater inspection at the end of May revealed that one of the vessel’s mooring chains is broken. Loss of one chain does not impact the vessel’s safety, integrity, or stability, the company stresses. However, the component will be repaired and maintenance will be completed on the remaining eight mooring chains.

Remediation work will start in early September and continue for 11 weeks, seven more than previously planned.
