Shell orders new umbilicals for North Sea Bittern project

Shell UK (NYSE:RDS.A) has contracted Ocean Installer to install two new static umbilicals at the Bittern field in the UK central North Sea.

ABERDEEN, UK -- Shell UK (NYSE:RDS.A) has contracted Ocean Installer to install two new static umbilicals at the Bittern field in the UK central North Sea.

Scope includes pre-lay engineering, survey and confirmation of all routes and subsea work, monitoring and testing of the umbilicals during transportation and installation, laying of the 20.7-km (12.8 mi) and 1.8-km (1.1-mi) umbilicals, constructing crossings and installation of protection mattresses, burial of umbilicals, and post- installation testing.

Offshore work should take place during August and September 2013, using the chartered construction support vesselNormand Clipper.

Bittern is 200 km (124 mi) east of Aberdeen in blocks 29/1a and 29/1b.
