Russia seeking to intensify Sakhalin E&P

MOSCOW – Gazprom’s management committee has discussed ways to speed up and expand the scope of exploration and field development in the Sakhalin region offshore eastern Russia.

The aim is to provide fresh resources for the country’sEastern Gas Program, which involves exporting gas to China and other countries in the Asia/Pacific region on long-term contracts.

Currently, reserves for this program are estimated at 5.2 tcm.

Under the program, Russia has already created new gas production centers in Sakhalin and Kamchatka, with another taking shape in Yakutia, and similar centers planned in Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk.
