ExxonMobil starts offshore Malaysia gas production at Telok

ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has started production from the Telok natural gas field offshore Malaysia in the South China Sea.

IRVING, Texas –ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has started production from the Telok natural gas field offshore Malaysia in the South China Sea.

The Telok gas field is 124 mi (200 km) offshore the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The field was developed under a gas production sharing contract, and is a 50/50 joint venture between ExxonMobil, the operator, and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd.

The Telok A platform is the first phase of the Telok project, which when completed will consist of two four-legged unmanned gas satellite platforms. Full well stream gas will be produced via a new 16-mi (26 km) pipeline to the existing Guntong E platform for processing. A total of 14 development wells are planned for the Telok A and B platforms.
