CADIZ, Spain – Pemex Exploration and Production has awarded a new platform contract to Dragados Offshore for the Compresión Alta Litoral A (CA-LITORAL-A) project in the Campeche region of the Gulf of Mexico.
The work scope comprises engineering, procurement, construction, load-out, sea fastening, transport, installation, testing, and start-up of the platform. The structure will weigh more than 15,000 tons, including the 9,000-ton main deck, 1,850-ton jacket, bridges, and substructures.
The deck will be installed via a float over operation, the first time this technique has been applied offshore Mexico, while the remainder of the structures will be installed via conventional single-lift.
Pemex’s aim is to increase current oil and gas production. The platform will be designed to cope with the required flexibility to comply with new operating conditions for the Litoral processing center, to eliminate excess gas flaring, and to provide modular capacity needed for increased production.
Its compression system will have capacity to increase pressure to 85 kg/sq cm by means of high-pressure compression modules, and must be ready for the project’s second phase when the Litoral process center (CP-Litoral-A) starts production, with an overall processing capacity of 200 MMb/d of oil and 600 MMcf/d of gas.
Timeline for Dragados is around two and a half years, including offshore hookup, commissioning, and the startup phase offshore. All work will be executed from Dragados’ facilities in Mexico.
