Serimax welding shallow-water pipelines offshore Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO – Technip (Paris:TEC) has contracted Vallourec welding subsidiary Serimax to assist Petrobras’ Ubarana – UGG project offshore Fortaleza, northwest Brazil.

Petrobras has appointed Technip for line pipe installations. Some of the pipes have been delivered by Vallourec from its Brazilian mill in Barreiro Belo Horizonte.

Serimax is providing welding services to Technip’sDLB Iroquois barge, with four Saturnax2 welding stations, and maintenance and production personnel onboard.

The scope of work comprises welding of 39.5 km (24.5 mi) of pipeline in two shallow-water fields, with 19 km (11.8 mi) of internally-coated 12-in. (30.5-cm) pipe currently being laid in the Ubarana field and 19 km of 20-in. (51-cm) pipe in the UGG field.
