OTC 2012: Predictive risk system can connect policy and field practice

HOUSTON –Petrotechnics hasunveiled Proscient, its new operational performance and predictive risk software at the Offshore Technology Conference. The platform provides the ability to reduce risk, optimize performance, and drive continuous improvement across multiple facilities.

“The industry needs to change how it thinks about risk,” said Phil Murray, CEO of Petrotechnics. “The exploration and production business has had a ‘find and fix’ approach and that needs to become a ‘predict and prevent’ approach. Industry needs leading rather than lagging indicators.”

Proscient offers a way to connect corporate policy to field practice, according to Petrotechnics. It can integrate multiple systems such as MMS/EAM, planning, ERP, and HSE. The system can generate real time risk profiles of a facility, an asset, and an entire enterprise. It uses predictive data to build a “predict and prevent” culture.

"Proscient can close the gap between corporate standards and actual field practice," said Scott Lehmann, VP of Product Management and Marketing. "It also can predict the level of operational risk and the consequences of optimization upon risk."
