ABERDEEN, UK– Environmental consultant BMT Cordah and well abandonment specialist InterAct are teaming up to offer oil and gas companies solutions for decommissioning projects on the UK continental shelf (UKCS).

According to Oil & Gas UK’s 2010 decommissioning report, 284 installations, subsea structures and interfield pipelines from 144 UK fields will be ready for decommissioning in the next decade.

Stuart Wordsworth, InterAct’s general manager, said: “This industry is still somewhat undeveloped and our customers continue to rely on specialist expertise to guide them through this complex and evolving challenge. In order to obtain the necessary expertise needed within the many stages of a decommissioning project, clients’ often find themselves having to juggle several different suppliers, so it can become quite overwhelming.

“Through our relationship with BMT we are trying to ease the pressure and provide more of a complete solution for our customers who can feel confident in the fact that they are partnering with the best to deliver on their project.”

BMT Cordah has 17 years’ experience in providing support to decommissioning programs and ensuring compliance with key legislation and guidelines. InterAct has been involved in numerous platform and subsea well abandonment projects over the last 10 years in the North Sea and elsewhere. It offers assistance with all aspects of decommissioning, from onshore facilities through platforms, pipelines or single wells.
