Block expansion could further development of offshore India field

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands –India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has approved a 20.5-sq km (9.65-sq mi) extension to the contract area for Krishna Godavari offshore block KG-OSN-2001/3.
Gujarat State Petroleum Corp is operator, in partnership with Jubilant Offshore Drilling Private Ltd.
The field development plan for theDeen Dayal West (DDW) area in the block was approved in November 2009 It includes wells KG-8, KG-15, KG-17, and KG-28.
Jubilant’s management believes that the hydrocarbon plays encountered in thediscovery wells KG-8 and KG-15 extend toward the south/southwest of the original block boundary, areas covered by the new extension.
The approved development area for DDW has now increased from 17 sq km (6.6 sq mi) to a total of 37.5 sq km (14.5 sq mi).
