DUBAI, UAE – Drydocks World has started construction on a $110-million project to build a compact semisubmersible vessel at its Batam, Indonesia, shipyard for Hallin Marine Subsea International Ltd.
The STX Canada Marine Inc. design vessel targets work on light well intervention and subsea systems maintenance and support.
The compact semisubmersible (CSS) is designed with four fixed-pitch azimuth thrusters and full DP-3 capacity, which enables automatic as well as manual dynamic positioning/heading control in harsh environmental conditions, and has a multiple inherent fail-safe capability.
The 84-m (275-ft), 8,200 dwt vessel has an active offshore crane, a single line lift of 150 metric tons (165 tons) SWL (Safe Working Load), a complete active heave-compensated, electro-hydraulic deep water lowering system, a 5 metric ton (5.5 ton) provision crane and two deepwater ROVs. The CSS can accommodate up to 152 personnel.
