Forte assembly under way

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands -- Construction has started of Fairstar Heavy Transport’s new 50,000-dwt semisubmersible transport ship Forte. First steel was cut last week at Guangzhou Shipyard International in China.

The vessel is due to enter service in 2012 on Chevron’s Gorgon project off northwest Australia.
