    Deepwater Horizon: DNV to examine BOP, riser package from Macondo

    The US Interior and Homeland Security Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has contracted DNV to conduct a forensic examination of the BOP and lower marine riser package from BP’s Macondo well blowout in the Gulf of Mexico.

    HOUSTON – The US Interior and Homeland Security Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has contracted DNV to conduct a forensic examination of the BOP and lower marine riser package from BP’s Macondo well blowout in the Gulf of Mexico. The hardware is being held by the JIT at a secure NASA facility in Michoud, Louisiana.

    DNV will develop a forensic testing protocol in consultation with commercial, academic, and governmental organizations for JIT approval prior to testing.
