    First LNG cargo arrives at Adriatic terminal

    The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo has arrived at the Adriatic LNG regasification Terminal aboard the LNG carrier Dukhan.

    IRVING, Texas – The first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo has arrived at the Adriatic LNG regasification Terminal aboard the LNG carrier Dukhan.

    According to ExxonMobil, the Terminal, which is located offshore of Porto Levante, Italy, is the first offshore gravity-based structure in the world for unloading, storage, and regasification of LNG. It uses the company’s proprietary technology and is designed around a large concrete structure, which houses two LNG storage tanks, a regasification plant, and facilities for mooring and unloading LNG vessels. When it reaches full operational capacity later this year, the terminal will be able to deliver 775 MMcf/d of natural gas per day (8 bcm/yr), or approximately 10% of Italy’s current natural gas requirements.

    The terminal is owned by Qatar Terminal (45%), ExxonMobil Italiana Gas (45%), and Edison (10%).
