Offshore staff
SHARJAH, UAE --Saudi Aramco has contracted Maritime Industrial Service Co. to refurbish its jackup SAR 201. Although the two companies have worked together for over 20 years, this will be MIS' first rig re-fit at its yard in Sharjah.
The project scope includes a major overhaul of the accommodation units, blasting and painting work for the legs, tank repairs and coatings, piping works, and inspection of the rig's spud cans - all within the framework of a five-year periodical survey for a mobile offshore drilling unit.
The rig should arrive at the yard in Sharjah early in April, with the work due to be completed by early August.
