MedcoEnergi hits pay in GoM

JAKARTA, Indonesia --MedcoEnergi US Llc (MEUS) has drilled two shallow water gas discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico.

The first discovery, well No. 1 in Brazos block 437, encountered 55 ft (17 m) of net gas pay from multiple zones, according to the company. The well is in federal waters 67 ft (20 m) deep. First production is expected in the second half of this year. MEUS operates the discovery with a 60% working interest.

The second discovery, drilled in 7 ft (2 m) of state waters in West Delta block 52, encountered 17 ft (5 m) of net gas pay, according to MEUS. Fist production is expected in the second half of this year. MEUS holds a 54% non-operated working interest in the discovery.

The company plans to drill additional shallow water wells this year.
