Jurong awards drilling equipment contract to Aker Kvaerner

Jurong Shipyard Pte. Ltd., Singapore has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for a drilling system for an ultra deepwater drilling semisubmersible unit. The total contract value is $160-180 million, including third party deliveries of approximately $95-110 million.

SINGAPORE -- Jurong Shipyard Pte. Ltd., Singapore has awarded Aker Kvaerner a contract for a drilling system for an ultra deepwater drilling semisubmersible unit. The total contract value is $160-180 million, including third party deliveries of approximately $95-110 million.

Aker Kvaerner MH in Kristiansand, Norway, will carry out the work, which covers delivery of a complete drilling package consisting of engineering, drilling equipment, and subsea equipment.

This award is the sixth contract to be built at Jurong Shipyard since October 2005 in a series of semisubmersibles based on Aker Kvaerner MH deepwater drilling solutions.

The ultra deepwater drilling rig is scheduled for delivery in 2Q 2010.
