Neptune TLP under tow to installation site

The hull of BHP Billiton's Neptune TLP sailed on May 19 from Signal International's yard in Port Arthur, Texas.

HOUSTON --The hull of BHP Billiton's Neptune TLP sailed on May 19 from Signal International's yard in Port Arthur, Texas. The hull was fabricated at Signal's yard in Orange, Texas.

The platform's topsides (fabricated by Gulf Island Fabrication) will be mated with the hull in the field at Green Canyon block 613 in 4,200 ft (1,280 m) of water. Heerema Marine Contractors will carry out installation.

Other contractors involved in the project include SBM Atlantia (hull and topsides design and supply [EPCM]) and Gulf Marine Fabricators (tendon and pile fabrication).

First production is expected by year-end.
