HOUSTON --Contango Oil & Gas Co.'s well Dutch No. 2 flow tested at 18 MMcfe/d of gas. First production is expected by July 1.

The company plans to spud its well Dutch No. 3 this month, followed by Mary Rose No. 1. The two wells will connect to a platform, currently under construction. The platform will be fitted with capacity to handle 160 MMcfe/d of gas, and is expected to be delivered in the fall.

"We anticipate it will take 7 to 10 wells to fully develop the Dutch and Mary Rose discoveries," says Kenneth R. Peak, Contango's chairman and CEO. Dutch is in Eugene Island block 10 and Mary Rose is in a state lease off Louisiana.

Contango owns a 40% working interest in the discoveries, inclusive of its 42.7% investment in Republic Exploration Llc.
