Murphy Oil appoints new president/COO and EVP

Murphy Oil Corp. has promoted Eric M. Hambly to president and COO and E. Ted Botner to executive vice president.

HOUSTON — Murphy Oil Corp. has promoted Eric M. Hambly to president and COO and E. Ted Botner to executive vice president (EVP). 

Hambly and Botner will continue to report to CEO Roger W. Jenkins.

Over his 18-year career with Murphy, the company said Hambly has played a vital role in the success of its global exploration and production operations. His roles have primarily been focused on offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico and Malaysia as well as onshore operations in the US and Canada. Prior to this promotion, he served as EVP, Operations since 2020.

Joining Murphy in 2001 as an attorney, Botner has held several positions with increasing responsibilities in the US and Malaysia culminating in 2020 to his role as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Botner will maintain his title of general counsel and corporate secretary.
