Offshore staff

HOUSTON —  After six years as CEO of Serica Energy, Mitch Flegg will step down from this role and as a director of the company. David Latin, the current chairman of the board, will take on the role of interim CEO until a long-term successor is appointed. Read more. 

Kate Thomson has been appointed bp CFO and will join bp’s board, both with immediate effect. She has been interim CFO since September 2023. Read more. 

Thunder Cranes' David Withers, who has served as the offshore lifting solutions company’s head of sales and special projects since 2018, has been named COO.

ROV specialist Forum Energy Technologies (FET) has appointed Martin Thomson as its first energy transition business development manager within its subsea business. 

Bob Sternfels has been reelected as McKinsey & Co.’s global managing partner. First elected in 2021 to serve the first of two possible three-year terms in this role, he has been reelected by McKinsey’s more than 700 senior partners and will continue his stewardship of the firm for a second and final term, which begins in July.

TPC Group has promoted John Harvey III to senior vice president of operations. TPC Group is a producer of value-added products derived from petrochemical raw materials, such as C4 hydrocarbons, and a provider of critical infrastructure and logistics services along the Gulf Coast. 

Company news

Eni completed its acquisition of the majority of Neptune Energy Group’s global E&P operations on Jan. 31. Vår Energi, in which Eni has a 63% interest, has taken on full ownership of Neptune’s offshore Norway portfolio, with Neptune’s Germany operations excluded from both deals. Read more. 

Global Maritime has acquired engineering specialist Iberian Offshore, strengthening Global Maritime's footprint in the emerging Spanish offshore wind sector and serving as a gateway for future expansion into the Mediterranean region.

Private equity firm Bluewater, a specialist investor in the energy sector, has sold engineering group Kent to Saudi Arabian contractor Nesma & Partners. Read more. 

Swire Renewable Energy has acquired Altitec Blade Services, a wind turbine rotor blade inspection, repair and maintenance company operating in the UK, Germany, Australia and South Africa. 

Teledyne Marine opened a new service center for AUVs in mid-December 2023 in Poland. Established in partnership with Enamor Ltd., this new center will provide support and services to customers in Poland and mainland Europe. Read more. 

DNV, an independent assurance and risk management provider, has opened its new Training Hub for Industrial Knowledge (THInK) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The training facility, which is the first of its kind in the region, will offer a range of comprehensive programs.

Woodside Energy has joined the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Oil & Gas Methane 
Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), a measurement-based reporting framework that enables improved 
accuracy and transparency for methane emission reporting.
