Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has completed a parallel overhaul of two gas platforms at Phase 12 of the South Pars gas field development in the Persian Gulf.

Peyman Rashidi, deputy head of operations, told news service Shana that the maintenance work on platforms 12A and 12B was completed within a week; gas production from the two facilities had ceased on May 16 for the annual turnaround campaign.

The program entailed 332 work orders on Platform 12A and close to 2,000 man-hours, while duties on Platform 12B with 386 work orders took about 2,600 man-hours to complete.

Work included inspecting flare tips and checks for corrosion and cracks, with all thermocouples on both platforms replaced. Also during the inspection phase, all pressure safety valves (PSVs) were removed and transported ashore for calibration.

Offshore and onshore repair workshop teams endured high humidity and extreme heat, but they were able to ensure the calibrated PSVs were reinstalled on the offshore platforms as scheduled.

Gas production on both platforms was able to restart a week later.
