Kansai takes stake in Odfjell Oceanwind

Japanese utility Kansai Electric Power has become a shareholder in floating offshore wind system developer Odfjell Oceanwind via a private placement.

KOKSTAD, NorwayJapanese utility Kansai Electric Power has become a shareholder in floating offshore wind system developer Odfjell Oceanwind (OOW) via a private placement.

Kansai has an annual production capacity of more than 85 TWh/year, with electricity production from nuclear, coal, natural gas, hydro power, wind and solar power plants.

The company, a partner in OOW’s GoliatVIND and UtsiraVIND developments, is now also the third largest shareholder in OOW after the Odfjell family and Japanese shipping group Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
