Offshore Mozambique group to supply LNG to EDF

HOUSTON – Mozambique LNG1 Co., the jointly-owned sales entity of the offshore Mozambique Area 1 partners, has entered into a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Électricité de France (EDF).

Under the off-take agreement, the partners will supply 1.2 MMt/yr of LNG (from two of the Area 1 offshore gas fields) to EDF over a 15-year period.

Mitch Ingram, executive vice president International & Deepwater Operations and Project Management for Area 1 operatorAnadarko said: “Mozambique LNG is unique in its ability to supply LNG to a variety of geographic locations to serve its customers, and this SPA gives us flexible access to Europe, which is one of our key strategic markets.

“The EDF sale is included in the portfolio of sales of more than 5 MMt/yr for which we have agreed key terms, and we continue to advance additional off-take arrangements.”

This will beMozambique’s first onshore LNG development, Anadarko said, initially comprising two LNG trains with total capacity of 12.88 MMt/yr, supporting development of the offshore Golfinho and Atum fields.
