Aker BP surprised by size of North Sea Frosk oil find

Aker BP has discovered oil in the Frosk prospect in the Norwegian North Sea.

LYSAKER, NorwayAker BP has discovered oil in the Frosk prospect, close to the Alvheim complex in the Norwegian North Sea.

Early analysis of the exploration well 24/9-12 suggests reserves in the range of 30-60 MMboe, well above the pre-drill estimate of 3-21 MMboe.

Frosk is in license PL340, also the location for the Bøyla field which has produced oil since 2015 through subsea facilities tied back to the Alvheim FPSO.

Aker BP operates the license in partnership with Point Resources andLundin Petroleum.
