KØPERVIK, NorwayGassco transported 117.4 bcm of gas during 2017 through the subsea trunkline system from the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) to mainland Europe and the UK.

This was 8% higher than in 2016, and established a new record in volume terms for Norwegian gas exports.

Norway’s gas, according to Gassco CEO Frode Leversund, cover around one-quarter of Europe’s gas needs and will remain a secure energy source for European consumers over the coming years.

Gassco operates the Norwegian gas transport infrastructure, which includes pipelines, process plants in Norway, and coastal terminals in Germany, Belgium, France, and the UK.

The Gassled joint venture achieved an average regularity of 99.48% through the network last year.

Deliveries of natural gas liquids and condensate from the process plants at Kårstø and Kollsnes in western Norway were also higher: 10.2 MM metric tons (11.24 MM tons), against 10 MM metric tons (11 MM tons) in 2016.
