GODALMING, UKHurricane Energy has issued an update on activities at Drydocks World in Dubai related to the early production system for the Lancaster field west of Shetland.

Bluewater’s FPSOAoka Mizu arrived at the shipyard on Sept. 30 for repair, upgrade, and life extension works.

Drydocks World is also undertaking fabrication of the buoy that will be connected to the vessel’s turret mooring system.

To date the vessel’s internal turret has been removed for upgrading.

During the first planned dry-docking, works completed included removal of a thruster for overhaul, outer hull surveys, replacement of sea valves, and installation of new bilge keels. In addition, initial tank inspections and cleaning have taken place.

The buoy structure is taking shape, with major sections including the top cone pre-assembled, with shell plating attached to the cone module.

Currently, the buoy locking ring is undergoing installation; all main components for the mooring are being fabricated; and the first of the 12 mooring chains has been completed.
