HOUSTON – The drillship Pacific Bora has spudded the Oyo North West well in block 120 offshore Nigeria for Erin Energy.

Erin sees this as a potentially high-impact exploration well, which should take around 60 days to drill and log.

Oyo-NW is one of various Miocene prospects identified the company, with targeted mean resources of 1.1 Bbbl.

Erin’s blocks 120 and 121 are close to numerous large fields in the prolific Niger Delta, with proven Miocene and Pliocene sandstone reservoirs.

If Oyo-NW discovers commercial oil, it will likely be tied back to existing floating production and offloading facilities located on the Oyo field.
