DOHA, QatarAmpelmann is supplying its A-type gangway system to North Oil Co. (NOC) on the chartered Bourbon Gulf Star DP-2 72 PAX support vessel.

The diesel-electric, 73 m (239 ft) long vessel is currently assisting operations at theAl Shaheen oil field, 80 km (49.7 mi) north of Doha.

The gangway, providing access to multiple offshore platforms, will be deployed for project and maintenance campaigns and to support various scheduled shutdowns.

Ampelmann claims its A-type gangway was the first full motion-compensating access solution for transferring personnel and cargo offshore.

It is engineered to compensate up to 3 m (9.8 ft) significant wave height while transferring personnel safely and efficiently within minutes, the company adds.

The gangway was installed on theBourbon Gulf Star at the end of November and will work at Al Shaheen until June 2018.

NOC is a partnership between Qatar Petroleum and Total, which will develop and operate the field over the next 25 years.
