ABERDEEN, UK – Drilling has started on OMV’s Iris/Hades (Aerosmith) exploration well in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleDeepsea Bergen is drilling well 6506/11-10 (Faroe 20%) in license PL644/PL644B in the Halten Terrace, 200 km (124 mi) offshore and adjacent to the producing Morvin and Åsgard fields, operated by partner Statoil.

The well is designed to target Cretaceous and Jurassic formations. The Cretaceous Hades prospect is a closure on the flank of the Sklinna Ridge, with the Jurassic Iris prospect directly underneath, within a rotated fault block.

Operations could take 90 days to complete.
