NEW DELHI, India – ONGC has made two deepwater discoveries in the KG basin off India.

In the G-1 PML concession, the G-1-15 (G-1-AC-Shift) well was drilled to a depth of 2,350 m (7,710 ft), encountering oil and gas during tests of three sand intervals in the Godavari Clay formation (Pliocene).

ONGC has declared one of the structures tested, Object-III, a new pool discovery, and also aims to upgrade volumes in Sand-8 (Object-I and II), consolidating the gas reserve base of the G-1 field.

The GS-29-8 Sub (GS-29-AI) well was drilled in the GS-29 Extn. PML nomination block to a depth of 2,600 m (8,530 ft), testing two sand intervals in the Godavari Clay formation (Pliocene). Tests on the Lower and Upper sand intervals both flowed oil and gas.

This was the first time the company had proven a pay sand interval at depths of 2,182-2,200 m (7,159-7,218 ft) in the GS-29 Area.
