TRONDHEIM, Norway – EMGS has issued an update on its seismic acquisition programs.

TheAtlantic Guardian completed a fjord test of the company’s new DeepBlue source in mid-July, prior to a first commercial project.

DeepBlue is a deep-towed source said to combine innovations in subsea high-power electronics with improved navigation, and capable of providing an output of up to 10,000A, and operable in water depths up to 4,000 m (13,123 ft).

According to EMGS, it can see smaller and deeper targets, while also increasing imaging confidence and resolution for targets that can already be detected with the company’s conventional deep-towed source system. Depth of investigation (below mudline) will also increase by up to 1,500 m (4,921 ft).

TheAtlantic Guardian subsequently acquired data on pre-funded multi-client surveys in the Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea.

The BOA Thalassahad been off-hire since April 1, but has a new charter agreement due to start this month.
